Power Increase through exhaust upgrade

Just talking to the Ford dealer today about power upgrades e.g. phase 1,2,3,4 upgrades and exhaust systems. Except for the exhaust system upgrade most other modicfications seem to affect the warranty of the car. The dealer mentioned that Harrod's Exhaust has an afiliation with Ford and the warranty is not affected. The dealer stated that for a $3000 total exhaust changeover a power increase of about 23kw is achieved. Does the price and power increase seem realistic?

I had a similar sales pitch from Brad Garlick Ford.

They have Herrod and a DeFilipo mild steel system.

I was told I would get a huge increase in torque and no need to get it chipped.

Garlick's are also offering their own chip. They told me that the Unichip was crap compared to theirs.

Sounds like crap to me. :spoton: NO SALE to me. :kissmy:

Mate the quote on the zorst seems somewhat extravagent to say the least.

When searching around for mods I was quoted $2300 for a Herrods System fitted.

Save your dough and your half way to an APS stage 2 which includes Zorst (stainless ) or nearly there without the Zorst if you go the excede route, though you will need some extra coin for valve springs.Debate on this requirement is on again , depends I suppose how your car behaves on the Dyno. Some members are talking about "flutter" on stockers. Up to you at the end of it.

Zorst alone will in most cases not void warrenty.

Hope this helps

I would also expect your car to overboost if you just did the zorst.

You would then need to chip it anyways, so you may aswell just get a APS phase2 :spoton:

Bcl and Xrsickness both run twin exhausts with a 4 inch cat that would probably add 30rwkw to a properly tuned car. Possibly the best sollution out there at the moment for the T and its way under $3K

My ute has a 3" stainless exhaust from the turbo back, not installed by any "ford preferred" people and it has not affected my warrenty whatsoever.....

as for the note and power increases..... sounds unreal and just the exhaust alone brought my ute from 255hp at the wheels to 275hp at the wheels... as I had it dynoed before and after...

Herrod exhaust is made by DeFilipo.

Herrods had a falling out of sorts with Unichip, they wanted to sell Unichip and TSI but APS wanted Herrods to only sell Unichip exclusively so Herrods said bye to APS.

From stuff I've read here on the forum there is no power gain to be made changing the exhaust on a stock XR6T.
