  3. is the XRT going to be discontinued ??? speaking with some mates the other day and we started to picture the BA range WITHOUT the XRT !! the bang for bucks wasn't making sense as the range is now (as discussed everywhere by everyone at all times) I hope they don't drop the XRT or any other model for that matter there was rumour that the utes/wagons would get IRS ...

    a good test raoulc ... I'm thinking of a aftermarket upgrade to the brakes for about $2k .. the premium brakes were just to expensive (and I would have to wait months and months more) Can I borrow your T when I go across the mountain? :D

  7. congrats and keep grinning :D a couple of things you mentioned.... the illuminated switch --- there is a thread on here a mile long and the I got a nose pack (probably another 3M product :lol: no, it was "Defense Pack") fitted to the ute to protect the bonnet/head/driving lights ... you can't see the film much ... was about $300 cheers

  11. two of your tyres ?? both on the same side .... the odds on a tyre defect would be near zero .... the dealer has a point re : impact ..... if it was one tyre .. I'd listen to it being a defect of the tyre ... it's a real pain :tears: ...
  12. love lettuce leaves :lol: there seems to be some problem in South Africa (Unichip - Dastek Ind S.A.) with supply at the moment and won't be available to do the mod till late June :( hopefully before the Melbourne Dyno Day CAPA has been mentioned and they have good gear but it is too complicated with too many add-ons etc etc The Unichip can be removed, car is immediately back to stock and the chip can be put in your next car ... what a mod
  13. good post Dave ... I have memories of some Tickford sun-roofs .. sh!t ... I'm considering getting a pop-up/remove sun-roof for my ute... what would be the max size I could get ? never put one in a ute before and it doesn't seem to be popular anymore..
  14. something sounds like it needs attention ..... if the drivetrain is smooth elsewhere other than 2000-2500 than IMO it can be readily fixed and if I had to guess I would put money on a corroded/loose electrical connection .... I hope I'm right ... all the best and let us know how it turns out

  16. You have to get it fixed .. Ford's history with sun-roofs hasn't been good ... maybe nothing has changed
  17. guys ... the tranny (both manual and auto) will go off like a grenade if you "rush" more than 450Nm at them... APS (and others) leave the shell shock of gear changes out with no boost below 3G but are saying that you get 550Nm up at 4.5G which is out of the gear changing danger zone ... this is a little spookey and you have to accept that a tranny replacement may come (lowever unlikely that may be) the thing that I see which amazes me is that the 400m trap speed of 179 kmh just represents truckloads of POWER .... maybe at higher rpms than a V8 but ... bucket loads of go ... (as per article ... nearly M3 status) if the transmission fails ... it would simply be a matter of tuning up the chip and letting the boost come on at lower rpms ..... better again and makes up for the cost of the tranny ... but there is only so much power you can use ..... the thing for me is that I really like the handling balance of the XRT the V8s are too front heavy (IMO) and unkind on centre corner speed ... this is where the stock XRT already shines ... I'm excited :D :D :o

I think Turbo6 might be able to translate ... merely working out the cost of extra kw and comparing it to models up the range of cars .... the $2500 mod is worth atleast $20,000 in street terms I.e. the GT.... the $20,000 might be reduced by the cost of a tranny at say $8000 leaving you atleast $12,000 ahead of someone in a GT or GTS ... and if the tranny lives .... then you get the full $20,000 ahead I'm tossing the warranty out the door .. this just saved money by not getting a GT
  19. about $2.5k will get you cats and chip ... 295fwkw ...... for all intensive purposes ... that is a real cheap modification :D as per Ford specs 240fwkw to 295fwkw for $2500 so that makes it about less than $45 per fwkw now ... if we look at [holden] ... 260kw of the R8 to 300kw of the GTS say about $25000 in real terms for the extra 40kw ... about $625 per kw now ... if we look at "FORD" the GT has 50kw more (manu's spec's) than the XRT and in real terms for $25000 more .... about $500 per kw is anyone following this ??? :lol: so one could save $20000 in real terms in the FORD market ... a tremec t56 or tko or similar tranny upgrade will set you back about $7000-$8000 and the factory diff will take it ... worst senario ... XRT say $45k plus chip etc $2.5k plus if tranny goes $8k .. standing quarter in 13.6s for $55.5k .... that's alot of car ...... I'm booked in !! B)

  22. Trumpy ... did the car have an oil change between you checking the levels ? if so .. it is not uncommon for a mechanic to loose count of his 1/2 gallon containers going in .... :tears:
  23. they look the same (the mufflers that is) though on the ute the exhaust essentially runs straight where as the sedan's zigzag around the place.... some say that the mufflers were changed since MAR03 build but not sure it has been confirmed... if your question is "does Martin's comment apply to sedans?" ... IMO yes ... but the cabin noise in the sedan may be unacceptable .. BTW I'd do it ! remove the centre muffler that is ... but I'm waiting for the Unichip developement to be finished later this month ...
