  1. Iv been looking into a GTX also and my tuner strongly recommended a new low mount manifold to get the best benefit and improve spool time. Currently waiting to hear back to hear if it can all be done in two weeks time. I was also tossing up between turbos but figured for what I use my ute for, the GTX is probably the better option for me due to proven reliability. My stock turbo has about 170k km on it while pushing around 370rwkw over the last 4 years and 320kw in the years before that and is still in good condition. I like power on tap to fry the tyres at will and scare the crap out of people while using it as a daily driver and not so much for the strip/track. so for me, I'm sticking to Garrett.

    My New Ute

Hi Kyle. Nice ute mate, love the colour. I looking at getting an ER6NL as well. What do you think of them? Cheers Cameron
  8. I have had the BPR CAI on my previous ute (BF XR6 N/A). I had it tuned using the xr8 snorkel then changed to the BRP unit and it did make a significant seat of pants difference. I did not get a dyno comparison becuase I lived a good 10hrs from the tuner, and using a different dyno wasn't going to be an accurate comparison. In my opinion I reckon they are a good bit of gear. I wouldn't be too worried about the tune if you are changing your exhaust, unlike the turbo engines, you won't be running any risks without retuning, you just won't be getting the most out of your enitre setup.
  9. Thanks for the feedback guys, I ended up finding a 70lt eskie from bunnings as a reasonable price that fits in perfectly. Can't remember what the brand is now..... I'll have to pull it out....may as well fill it up too :-)
  10. Not to take anything away from Simon.... but why not contact them direct?
  11. Hi Mate, I used to own a lightning strike BF xr6 ute.... its still somewhere on the site with the new owner... now for mods. The other guys are right, on the KW/$ ratio, you do need to spend a lot more and get a lot less with the NA's.... but I'm not going to tell you to strap forced induction to it... obviously that is an easy option... something you wouldn't jump on here and ask about. My recommendations are: exhaust, tune, and intake. Exhaust: Because the BF's use two O2 sensors (one before, and one after the cat) you can't just go and change the cat, unless you get it tuned out. For extractors I used pacemakers. I chose the 4490s for more lower down torque. The 4495's offer better high end power. The cat remained in place and I used an xforce cat back system. Unlike the turbo brother, a exhaust that flows too good can cost you power Intake: I used a Blue Power Racing CAI, which I held onto because it is a great bit of gear. I didn't do back to back dynos but it definitely improved things. The next best thing would be to throw a k&n panel filter into your airbox and add the snorkel under the headlight Tune: Go to a reputable tuner!! There are great tuners as sponsors on this site. As mentioned before I believe that no cats have been developed to comply with the emission laws that the BFs follow. I have been told you can still change the cat and have the second sensor tuned out, however if this is done then reloading the stock tune will result in the ECU throwing out a fault and going into limp mode.... I don't believe changing the cat will give you many gains. I'm no tuning expert but I found with the NA if you haven't done cams there isn't really any need to move the rev limiter as the knee of the torque curve is before the stock RPM cut out. This may be different if using 4495... anyway I found after tuning and finding out this point, shifting around here was much more effective. There are other mods like underdrives, cams, but I believe the above are a better stepping stones. Like someone else mentioned, Ford Forums do have a great NA section. I welcome feedback if I have told any lies in the above. Cheers Cameron
  12. Here is mine, just got my new rocker cover and pullys from Atomic
  13. It may have been said earlier but, the hose that connects between the Pcv and the plenum has a second one way valve installed. Might pay to check if there is one installed and if there is, replace it
  14. I just ordered a twin 3 inch stainless system from manta. It also has twin cats and a 4 inch dump. Simon at xft has stated really good things about them and apparently there's a + 700hp 6t ute running this system in wa with cats in place. It is replacing my custom made 3.5 inch system from RDP that is supporting 500hp atm...
  15. I would run a spanner over the u-bolts anyway. One of mine was a little bit loose and made a bit of a noise in the same conditions. Has she had a hard life? Mine has done over 100k and still no trouble. As I said, run a spanner over everything. When's the last time the diff oil was changed?
  16. Post them up I'm always keen to see what's going on
  17. I fitted mine in a box in the tray on the right side. Cut off the battery terminals and put lugs on the cables. Bought a red and black insulated studs from the local auto lecky and fitted them where the cables would reach them. Ran the positive lead as 50mm welding flex through the chassis rail (if you would call it that) up then up through the tray. Ran the ground from the battery straight to the closest metallic part with an existing bolt under the tray. I think I had a write up in my thread in the engine section ..... I'll do some digging

I ended up gettin 2nd place in the sound off for A class.... not bad for a 6yr old little stezza Damn VL beat me on the dyno too by 6 hp but it was all fun..... bring on next year!!
