  5. When people quote rwkw on a dyno should there be a practice to quote ambient temperature in the room at the time? Could 199.7 verses 205 be simply down to temperature?

    Boxter Porsches

I currently have an E46 M3 and I don't think you can compare the sound of the M3s flat six to a standard Boxster six; I.e not the S; although the sound of a 996/997 is in a different league. 292kW at the flywheel from a naturally aspirated six is unbelievable - you've got to hear it to believe it. My biased view is that the M3 is an amazing car that can take 4 adults in comfort and has a boot; you can't do that in a Boxster; that's why I've got one while I'm here in the UK. The problem with owning BMs and Porsches in Australia is the short warranty and the cost of servicing/repairs; there is no way I would own such a car in Australia. But then again if you've got lots of money to throw away - be my guest. My opinion is buy the car of the country/region; when I get back to Oz next March I'm buying a T cos its the car designed and built in the country for local conditions and you get better bang for your buck. Go help your mate waste his cash; we all know on this forum who has made the intelligent decision. If he must buy Euro then recommend an E46 M3; not a Boxster.

    Xr6 T Hotlap

I couldn't agree more with the comments about what a p1ss poor effort of a rip off the program is and I can't believe they are taking segments off 5th Gear. Thank god we've got the ability to download some proper motoring programs. I live in UK and Top Gear is the best program by far, I make my wife sit through an hour on Sunday of Top Gear and then an hour of 5th Gear on Monday night. Sunday just gone the show was dominated by the Bugatti Veyron, Clarkson drove it from North West Italy to London in a race against his other co-hosts in a light aircraft - it was a great espisode. Clarkson comes out with some amazing facts like; the Veyron can let a McLaren F1 (road car) get to 120mph and the Veyron will still beat it to 200mph fom a standing start - the McLaren use to be the fastest road car in the world up until a few years ago. The indicator stalks are £4,500 (Aus$11,000) each - crazy! Back to the T, I agree with all the comments so far. Let's see the hot lap that produced the good time and don't assume that your audience are all numpty heads who don't know anything about cars - give us some details about the mechanicals; but to a sensible level. 1 star for effort and at least producing a program, at least it gives us something to shoot down. I hope the producers are reading this and are changing the format and the hosts.

  9. That's a great price thebrunks, where did you pick up that bargain? Private, trade or auction? Besides the color it sounds like exactly what I'm after.
