  1. Hey guys. I'm having harmonic driveline vibrations in my '07 Manual typhoon. But first a run down on the history of the car. Bought in 2011 with only 17 000 ks, and had stuffed diff bushes from the get go, that was fixed firstly by ford. They lasted about 5000ks and were pooched. The next diff bush endeavour was done at an independent shop and all three bushes were replaced with nolathane polyurathane (or however you spell that) bushes. Now.. this uncovered the first vibration! turns out the tailshaft was out of balance quite badly, and wasn't noticed previously due to the bushes soaking up all the vibration, and was noticed after due to the solid bushes.. (also explains why I went through the factory bushes so quickly!) So that was fixed and my car was the best its ever been. After about 10000 ks of worry free motoring I went chasing horsepower. Some blingy bits, some supporting mods, a clutch and a trip to Monsta Torque and my F6 was comfortably producing 384rwkw. At this stage I started to have wheel hop issues. A few really bad 1st gear axle tramp launches at the drags and I figured something wasn't right, shortly after that I snapped a halfshaft.. Due to being recently back from an overseas working holiday and en-employed I just chucked a high k's second hand half shaft in it so I could drive it again. whilst doing this I noticed the the diff bush housing on the k frame was tearing!! MY POOR BABY! Also noticed was the beginning of this latest vibration that I'm having. I was convinced it was something to do with the rooted cradle, or a sh*tty CV from the high k's half shaft, or the other halfshaft about to let go as well. So after getting some money together again I forked out and went silly. Coilovers all round, swaybars front and rear, IMS twin bush diff hat and a matched pair of low k's halfshafts. All done in the back shed by yours truly. I thought for sure this will solve my wheel hop and vibration problems for sure! AND IT DID! solve the wheelhop issue... but not the vibration! I was convinced it has to be tailshaft as everything else has been changed! (diff was inspected and was fine). But then when I was driving it today I noticed something. you see before hand, I thought the vibration was totally linear with ground speed, MOST prominent with downshifting, engine breaking and seemingly consistent around 100-120kph. But TODAY I noticed around 110 in 5th gear the vibration is quite loud/prominent, but shift to 4th or 6th with the same load and it almost disappears... So now I'm thinking I have a on-its-way-out T56 that's causing the suspected vibration.. Thoughts? Sorry about the Novel just trying to supply as much info as I can, I appreciate any input or suggestions! P.S If anyone's been thinking of doing the IMS diff hat, DO IT, its so worth it. Cheers.
  2. vinyl wrap?? I say anyway. also bf mkII #117 here
  3. if u have the equipment, hook up a regulator to your wastegate line and take note at how many pound of pressure it STARTS to move and how many pound its at once fully actuated. This will rule out the wastegate actuator if it tests ok at around 6-7 psi, my guess is MAP sensor (manifold air pressure), which is what reads boost pressure, is reading too much than what it should be, wouldn't hurt to check and make sure its not caked with crap or the electrical plug full of dirt or something, just start testing stuff mate
  4. yea deciding am going to wait another fortnight, get more cash together and get springs and pump too, then she should b pretty reliable, well until I sh*t my clutch
  5. be worth it for settin car alarms off and trolling commy drivers though haha!
  6. Ok sweet cheers guys. So what valve springs is everyone running? I was looking at the atomic 80 pounders. Also I was told today that there's a dude in Perth that does external gate mods to these cars and ends up quite functional apparently. I was thinking of doing that and plus having a screamer which I've wanted since day dot anyways. then no over boosting dramas either. While im on the topic has anyone done an oil pump upgrade to their car?
  7. ok so I've had my 07 bf mkII phoon for coming up three years and am now quite bored with the horsepower (stock) so after a bit of reading and a few phone calls I've come up with a game plan. ive already ordered (b here in couple weeks) a process west intercooler and intake, aswell as a process west surge tank and high pressure pump. next pay I'll be buying an exhaust and injectors and then it will b off to get tuned. QUESTION: my understanding, from what ive heard from other owners, is that I'll b quite happily achieving about 450hp at the treads, then other people have told me valve springs are a MUST, and wastegate flapper mod is also a MUST. can somebody please shed some light on this? cheers :] p.s limit on what the bf conrods can put up with? if anybody knows?
  8. ok so I found instructions for those who may be interested, they're kind of vague though. how do I add pdf files to posts???
  9. light vehicle charge rates is just simply robbery... but that is an awesome price for that job! especially from ford too!
  10. shall definitely be doing it myself, a good learning curve aswell. once I know how to do it properly myself then I'm set, and availible to help fellow falcon owners in the future that find themselves in this situation. cheers for everyones help and please if anybody comes across a tutorial spread it around! if not ill start one myself when I do the job and post it in tutorials as somewhat of a draft, and people can add things in as they come across different problems or things to take note of in the job. and the idea of doing this job myself in to save and invest money into making it go faster. hehe :D
  11. sorry realised I didnt metion a thing about the car. its a manual bf mkII typhoon, been dropped on pedders coil overs but stock power output. and yeh its a sedan. I understand its a large job but I can't afford to have it done by a shop, ive got access to a hoist and am a hd mechanic myself so thought id save some dosh and do it myself. I am going for more power soon aswell so I really do require a bush that's gunna put up with punishment. I'll post a pic tomorrow of my bush and its condition (resembles that of a roll of rubber put through a blender) lol got to the point where its actually disturbed the diff casing gasket and its now leaking diff oil all over the driveway... not a happy chap hah
  12. hey I was just after a 'how to' or a 'step by step' on replacing diff bushes. is there one going around on the forum that anyone is aware of?? any help would be fantastic. also ive been told that I should go the superpro bushes over nolethane?? I was after an opinion on that aswell cheers. ryan..
  13. haha, I live in mandurah WA, I might have to go hoist hunting by the sounds of things then..
  14. yea planning to do it myself, is it do-able with just stands in the driveway? and what kind of setup (that's affordable) is good for reinstalling the bushes?
