  1. I have been trying for weeks to find a decent set of BA BF XR6 TURBO XR6T XR8 wheel center caps but these things have become rare,, and expensive. Funny how things come & go so fast these days. Don't know why I posted this but it seemed like a good thing to do at the time.
  2. OK, I just got the 18x9.5's +40 for the rear, & they fit with about 5-7+mm clearance all round the suspension components, the tyres better not bulge much though. Fronts 18x8.5 +35 are in a container on a ship heading this way- ETA 3-4 weeks. Nice clean wheels with decent dish, only problem is that they do the Coppers work for them because stamped in Big letters facing outward on the rime it says D1 9.5 J x 18. The Filth will just have to glance at them & know they are too wide. O' well good thing that I like a degree of dificulity in life... Edit: I rolled the rear guard lip just a few mill with a $100 (dellivered) Ebay guard roller, easy as. Here is a little seceret,,, go to Clark rubber & buy a length of solid rubber cord about 8mm thick and once you get a nice bend/roll going,, put the rubber cord in the cavity & you will get a smooth dead level fold L to R. ( it must add some support) Then when your finished just pull the cord out, it stretches & thins out enought not to be a hasstle to remove
  3. Found this on another site about NSW Transport regulations: Read it & tell what you think, does it mean that the vehicle would still be legal being 4mm over track on each side? RTA: Wheels & Tyres 1. wheel track must not be increased by more than 25mm beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that vehicle. 2. Where non original axle or suspension components are fitted, the offset of the wheel in relation to the axle or stub axle assembly used shall not be increased by more than 12.5mm each side of the vehicle based on the specifications of the axle components used. Minor Wheel Changes: 3. Wheels up to 26mm wider than the largest optional wheel recommended by the vehicle manufacturer for the vehicle can be fitted without the need to notify the RTA. 4. The outside diameter of the wheel and tyre combination must be no more than 15mm over the largest diameter wheel and tyre combination specified for the vehicle. Front wheel drive vehicles Except where the original manufacturer provides to the contrary, front wheel widths shall be no more than 26mm greater than the widest optional wheel offered by the vehicle manufacturer. This requirement also applies to fourwheel drive vehicles with constant front wheel drive. Also: Thanks Flame Magnet,, that's a good little tool, I have bookmarked it for future reference
  4. OK after weeks of setbacks & holdups I am finnaly ready to buy my new wheels & tyres for the BA. I'm not outlaying a Huge amount of dollars, so I decided to go with something clean, neat & cheap. Lenso D1R wheels fitted the bill nicely. Anyway, I was wanting to get 18x 8.5 for the front & 18x9.5 on the rear. Everybody says that there is not problem with that size fitment just as long as you get the offsets right. Now, the wheel/tyre shop that has the D1R's is telling me that I would be better off fitting 18x9 +32 offset on the front? But I think the shop is having a lend of me because surley the 18x 9's +32 willI be too wide & protrude outside the front guards. So whats the good oil on this fitment? Will the 18x9" D1R's legally fit on the front or are they just trying to make a sale? I think that maybe they have run out of 8.5's & are just trying to make a sale.
  5. I just wanted to put one back in if it is meant to have one there. I have seen heaps of BA's without the ABS2 Fuse. So many in fact that I didn't know if that space was even utilised. Actually I don't think I have ever seen one ba with it in.
  6. Just noticed no "ABS 2" fuse/relay in relay box under hood BA XR6 Turbo. I guess there should be one ,,right? Although,,,,, they do drift Real good if you can hang onto em....
  7. lol, For crying out loud boys,, it's a typo! Its meant to be $1,730 or One thousand seven hundred and thirty dollars. Come on guys I may not be up to scratch on sizes & offset but surely you would have realized it was a typo especially when I said that we had purchased them cheaper than the $1875 that I quoted in my previous post.lol so what offset would you suggest I put on a BA front & still keep the wheels inside the guards? I was told that the 5x114.3 18x8.5 D1R's only come with either +25,+37 or +42
  8. Just an Update: I spoke to George from Rollenso wheels in NSW & he gave me the name of a guy who owns a Tyre retail outlet up in Brisbane that he deals with. So,,, "to cut a long story short" After speaking with the guy in Brisbane ( who then phoned George at Lorennso Wheels) we managed to work out a good deal & we will now be able to get the same D1R's from him (in Bris) & not have to pay any freight. All up for the exact same wheels & Tyre deal will now only cost us $17300 for the set fitted. That is 2x18x8.5 +37 with 245/40's for the front and 2x18x 9.5 +40 with 265/35's on the rear. A pretty good deal considering some of the stooges we spoke to tried to charge us $450 bucks each for the same D1R wheel without tyres. And I don't care how good TSW are, I couldn't justify letting my son pay $500.00+ dollars for one Cathage Alloy wheel. Yes I can get ATR 2, but @ extra cost I would think. although I doubt that there would be a great difference in price between the two.
  9. Thanks for that info guys it was a big help to us. Anyway my son is ordering a staggered set of machined silver with polished lip D1R's 18x8.5 +37 front 18x9.5 +40 rears fitted with budget Achillies ATR sport 245/40 rubber on the front & 265/40 rubber on the rear. They come with caps, wheel nuts, fitted balanced for $1875 delivered to his door. It would have cost him $2518 for the same size TSW Cathage with the same budget tyres driving in & buying them from a retailer. But the retailer said that he would only fit 8's on the front & would not fit 8.5's. I will post a photo when he gets em on the old girl.
  10. Great, thanks for that information. Actually we did see Axis hiro's early on in our search, but encountered the same lack of availability problem up here in Brisbane, so I guess we just forgot about that brand & moved on. But thanks for reminding me again because they are a good looking wheel & as you say, they are very similar "looking" to D1R's. If the price you have quoted is the cost of a set with Kumho rubber fitted then they are reasonably priced too. Definitely worth a second look. So would they only be available from Tempe? Or do you know a chain retailer that stocks them so I could purchase them up here. I like to do away with the middle man where possible, but I have had some scarey situations with large, heavy auto accessories being delivered by courier in the past. So I don't mind the middle man/Retailers fee when it comes to wheels because the retailers usually aren't going to fit a damaged set.
  11. we have looked at so many wheels lately that my son & I have started dreaming about them. Ma O" Man there are some CRAP wheels out there that you have to wade through unless you know exactly what your after. We have checked out everything from TSW Catharge to Lenso D1R's & everything in between. TSW Carthage are a nice looking wheel but $500.00+ for each wheel, tell them their dreaming! It wasn't so long ago that TSW was a budget wheel & TSW stood for Terribly Soft Wheel. Finally he has decided to go with a staggered set of Lenso D1R's But we can't find any up here in QLD so he has to get them sent to QLD from Rollenso Wheels down south. He wants to put 18x8's on the front which come in +25,+37,+45 offset. So which offset should he order for the front? And he want's to put 18x9.5's on the rear which come with +30 & +40 offset So which offset should he order for the rears? I know this is in a FG toppic so I am Sorry, because the car is not an FG it's a BA Falcon xr6T
  12. Thank you for that info, but they are extremely hard to find. Other than the odd wheel shop in WA (that used to have them) there doesn't seem to be any retailers that stock them in Aus any more. Definitely no outlets in QLD The only ones that I have found have been on Gumtree & eBay & they are secondhand. I steer clear of secondhand soft alloy wheels because most of the decent schmick looking ones are only sold because they are warped or bent.
  13. what are the wheels on the falcon in the photo?, they look schmick!
  14. Thanks for the info mate I kind of figured that it might have to be one of those accessories purchased by 85 year old lawn bowlers who tend to drive faimonts freeze_dk wrote: lol ...yep that definately is a viable option but I think I will go with Ralps suggestion,,cheers
  15. I have a BA XR6 Turbo that has this "God Awful looking" Analogue Clock sitting smack bang in the middle of the dash...I think it looks dumb but that is how it came...SO Did/or Do they still make moulded dash mats to suit that stupid little clock? I guess a black one would be nice
