  1. Pictures as Promised, WOW, I can't believe that took me 6 years to do.
  2. Pictures as promised. WOW, I can't believe the difference, or that I waited 6 years to do that.
  3. Ordered Versus Raceforge 2 in 18x9 +20 front and 18x10 +20 rear Have bought Yokohama V105 285.35 rears (damn they look wide) and 245.40 front. Hope they clear well, Versus recommended those offsets as good for the utes. Hope they arrive Monday for fitting. Photos later
  4. I've finally done something about the standard 17's that came on my 09 ute. Ordered Versus Raceforge 2 in 18x9 +20 front and 18x10 +20 rear Have bought Yokohama V105 285.35 rears (damn they look wide) and 245.40 front. 5. I know its been a while, just wondering how they have been to live with. Offset not too far out, missing guards under load? I'm about to order similar but with Yokohama 245.40.18 front and 285.35.18 rears. Tyres paid for just about ready for the wheels.
  6. I have a Green FG XR6T ute with standard 17inch rims. Time to upgrade, due to rough roads around home I will stick to 18's. Which Option 18x8 Versus Monza, 45 offset, Sumitomo 245.40.18 tyres 18x9 front, 18x10 rear Versus Raceforge Sumitomo 245.40.18 front 265.35.18 rear (offset between 20-35) Second option is an all black wheel, first is black with polished rivet look. I would hope the second option would help hide the huge gap wheel to guard at back of ute? Extra $500. Ideas? Opinions? Thanks
  7. 3 Months later, Muffler has carboned up nicely I assume, It has calmed down a lot. Still rattles the shed when starting up and has a nice deep idle note thanks to the rather expensive MagnaFlow muffler. Worth every cent. Less drone on highway. Using less fuel last couple of weeks, and sounding a bit more civilised. Although both of those could be my right foot??? Once again, huge thanks to Rob Bliss Exhausts. The only place honest enough with me to suggest the mods I performed, even though they probably made less money. Standard factory SS pipework except the y pipe and the single muffler, sounds a lot better and deeper than any other FG XR6T ute I have heard. Total cost including 2 new awesome looking tips under $600. Too many people get fooled into spending way more for full cat back replacement, then end up with inferior pipe work (stock is SS). Unless chasing big horsepower gains through other mods, then full system replacement is warranted. I would record sound and post it, but phone mic and computer speakers do no justice.
  8. Rear Muffler replaced with a smallish Stainless Magnaflow. Retained the twin pipe over the axle. Sounds real different now. Plenty of growl, especially under load, backfires beautifully on deceleration. Drones a bit on the highway at around 2000 RPM, lucky the stereo kind of drowns it out a bit. Being a ute it is bearable, a sedan would drive me crazy with that much volume. Much more fun to drive now, turns heads when I want it to. If looking for great work on Northside of Brisbane I recommend Robb Bliss.
  9. Finally had the centre muffler removed, thanks Robb Bliss Exhausts. Single 3" y piece to twin 2.25" (I think) Sounds OK but is still a bit quiet, rumbles well when hot but no crackle when decelerating and is still fairly quiet. I thought that was because the exhaust exits so far behind the cab but was not very noticeable when wife driving away in it. (she did return!!!!) Anyone tried swapping out the rear muffler for a free'r flowing? Its 2 in and 2 out pipes. Definitely do not want drone, or too much attention from Cops.
  10. I am looking for advise from those who know, not guesses. I have a 6 year old turbo ute and am looking for a nice deep note without too much drone and remaining legal. I am not chasing more power, rather more presence without loosing any power. I've noted a lot of you remove either centre or rear muffler, both which seem to have issues. I only have around $600 to spend and live north of Brisbane. A lot of local exhaust places say they can replace with cat back, some with single 3 inch, other twin 2.5 inch. Whats your thoughts?
  11. Mine were like that but replaced under warranty.
  12. I bought the moulded units from ford. A bit pricey at around 4-500 but they fit well and work real good. The pain of the cost has gone now that I am using. It is one unit that goes all the way across the cab behind the seats.
  13. I find my FG XR6T ute (completely stock) to have the biggest range, ie min km to max km, per tank of any car I have owned. Enjoying it a lot around town only around 400km but a recent trip average speed 110, some overtaking, but almost empty road, cruise control most of the trip, unloaded but 2 adults over 800km with at least 75 to go according to both the computer and result when filling. Average consumption on computer fell from 13.2 down to 11.5. That soon changed when back in town. Just goes to show the right foot has more to do with it than anything else.
  14. Great read. For various reasons I bought the manual. What I was not told at the time was the limit of 1200 kg on the manuals even with HD tow pack. Bugger. At least its a lot of fun the rest of the time and 1200 covers most tow jobs, cant even feel the weight behind at most times.
  15. Be careful its not just the turbo whistle that will give it away. Stock exhaust is different with twin tips, The cops will notice stuff like that. First time they see you pull away from lights may also be a give away!!!!
