1. is the image linking a forum issue? seems to work elsewhere.
2. here is my 'new' volvo. its a 2008 V50 T5 AWD. 169w and yep feels that slow, and the steering is like an arcade machine... But I really like it though, especially at $10,300. Someone spent >$58k on this when new!? The seats are way, way comfy. 16 hours driving it back from Adelaide and felt like I could do another 16 hours. On the way home through the "Hay Plains". Yesterday I did the front and rear diffs, slotted 320mm front rotors and slotted rear rotors, spark plugs, k&n filter I've got a Haldex filter and oil, and some Motul HF in the mail. Then I'm going to sit back and wait and see what this eurotrash wagon is going to cost to maintain. hopefully nothing major will break. Not worried about the motor, they are pretty tough. Transmission was rebuilt about 40k ago, I think only because 20k prior it was serviced with the wrong oil and the tranny "specialist" prolly thought "yeah mate, these things always sh*t trannys" as its a known problem up to 2003-4. flame suit is on, tell me I'm a f*cking idiot for buying something like this. I hope you're wrong though.
3. I've been very happy with my Isuzu Dmax 4x4 as a work vehicle. Unloaded it now weighs 2485kg with bullbar, rear bar, sliders, HD lifted suspension, ARB traderack, roll n' lock, extra battery. On top of this for daily use I add probably 200kg of tools, cable etc (although very light on compared to most overloaded Hiaces you see on the road). Still averages 8.7l/100km...
4. I just looked into this as mine was written off but before being told I was looking at used car listings to gauge what I would get. I would say your mate would get about $6-8k.
5. wifey ran a red light with the boys in the back and t-boned some other poor lady. it crashed really well she said, and no one was hurt. written off and they gave us $11k. (7/2006 xr6t with 100016 km, no options but in excellent condition) it pisses me off that after years of trouble free motoring, I had decided to throw a bit of cash at it lately with coils, plugs, ceramic coating the manifold, engine mounts, bought a second rear to re bush etc. and then within two months its all gone. bought a Volvo t5 awd with the payout money because I'll be doing the reno on the unit soon and don't want cash tied up in a new car that gets driven once or twice a week right now. does anyone want to buy a complete disc to disc k-frame 2.73 lsd/ 328mm vented rear disc rear end with new diff bushes? PM me :(
6. got me some good tickets to Hateful Eight 70mm in the city, with extra minutes, intermission and programme. 12 minute intermission...bubble bubble bubble might be in order?
7. I got the By-Law written by a lawyer for approval by the owners corp at our AGM in January. It basically gives me a right to use and build in the roof space (common area) and indemnifies the other owners of any future maintenance costs etc. I went to a pre DA consultation at Council and they said they have no issues. Fingers crossed (as I'm $2500 down already) the other owners give approval like they said they would in conversations I've had.
8. Capri looks fast even without a motor up front
