  1. I was talking to Paul from M1 the other day and he said they are close to finishing developing there own external cooler system for the falcons but I wanted to go with the tried and tested system from Furious. But other than that, I have heard nothing but good about them. Prolly gunnu cost a bit more for the rebuild than a second hand trannie but I just want it done right the first time and will hopefully get a few hundred thou km outta it
  2. Thanks for all ya help. Its going into M1 Automatics in Loganholme in a couple of weeks for a rebuild, and they are confident the mechatronics unit will be fine and said they had never had one buggered in any rebuild from this problem they have done yet Have also ordered an external oil cooler from Furious Performance in VIC (off ebay) I will install before it goes in so I dont encounter this bullsh*t again. I would just put a manual in it but this is just the NA city commuit car so wanna keep it lazy and easy for traffic... I have my manual XR6T for when I wanna have some fun lol
  3. Anyone know what the go is with the computer in the car and a different trannie? im told I have to get a brand new tranny (or computer) because one is eternally linked to the other supposedly
  4. dont worry... lol my bad. after some googling saw ZF is a brand, not a product... anyway moving on, lol
  5. Thanks for ya responses What ya mean by 'zf charge more for an exchange box if its been contaminated?' Am in clermont, 100km to emerald, 300km to mackay. Im not looking for power, this is my everyday n/a xr6 (t56 in the xr6t thank f^k), know any dealers that sell refurbished ones? Or just keep an eye on ebay etc? I remember reading something about the computer in the car not working with second hand ZF's, is this correct? Thanks in advance
  6. And has anyone had a milkshake then successfully installed a trans cooler kit and gave the ZF and coolant a good flush and service, and the ZF was fine?
  7. Trying not to swear... Have arrogantly ignored my ZF clunking etc for the last 2 weeks (work work work), last couple of days has been really bad, to the point that the engine revs are unstable at low revs or idle when in gear, sometimes grinding noises in 2nd 3rd 4th and so on (the typical milkshake symptoms). Lifted the bonnet at the servo today, and I have icebreak in my coolant overflow. Have reviewed a few forum posts with no 'where to nows', so to speak (including http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/75623-zf-auto-milkshake/) So where to now? Is my gearbox rooted, and I will def need a rebuild? OR At this point, is it possible I could try installing one of those external trans oil cooling kits, flush the coolant and trans oil, give the ZF a service (filter, clean etc) and hope for the best? Is it not even worth that work, should I just trailer it to somewhere and have the ZF rebuilt? I come here as im in central QLD with no one within 400km that can look at it.... Thanks in advance:headbang2:
  8. Thanks heaps for your help! I know what your getting at from what I was looking at last night, see how I go. If not ill just pull the whole thing out lol. Thanks again for your help.
  9. So I noticed an exhaust sound coming from somewhere around the footwell, initially thought it was the exhaust but after looking at it last night noticed there was a gap between the turbo and manifold and 3 of the bolts where missing and the 4th was sitting there very loosley. Basically my question is, is there any way to get these new 'double ended bolts' (not sure what they are exactly called) I got from ford in without havin to remove the entire turbo? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Yeah one of the blokes at the tyre shop did say something about the on car tailshaft balance, I might just bite the bullet and take it to ford, get the weights checked and balance done. Thanks heaps mate
  11. Thanks for your response mate. Would they have removed them for the work I have had done? Or could they fall off, even? Coz im pretty sure the problem wasn't their when I started my trip but when I got on the smooth highways of brissie it was really noticeable.
  12. So have spent the last 6 hrs going through every post in driveline forum which may relate to my problem, and also smashed google, but can not work out what might be the problem with my car. Have an 06 BF XR6 T with a light vibration coming from somewhere in the rear of the car. It does not start until about 95km/h, but does not start straight away, e.g. get onto the motorway and accelerate to 100km/h and after maybe 15 - 30 seconds it starts of lightly and slowly progresses to a very noticeable vibration. Interestingly, at about 120km/h it goes away regardless of how long I have been driving. This problem started after a 100km drive from central qld to brizzie. There is nothing coming through the steering wheel but does somewhat through the gear stick and seat. So far I have had the following done from advice trying to fix the problem. new mags, as 3 of them where buckled new tyres New pedders suspension Park break adjusted Also take into account, before the vibration started I had the diff bushes replaced because they where f'd, as they do (vibration didnt start straight after this though)... which bought up lots and lots of continuous clunks at low speeds which was the diff f'd which has also been completely rebuilt, but as I couldn't afford the rebuild straight away, it was carried out after I drove to brisbane, so this problem arose while the diff was f'd, but remains after the diff rebuild. This is professionals (but not ford service) giving me this advice and this f'n vibration is still there, and dont know where to go from here. I just want to gather some peoples opinions before I bite the bullet and take it to ford and say I don't want it back until its fixed. Thanks for your help in advance! ...if you can lol.
  13. Im keen top know too, does the oil have to be drained or just a recommendation? Any pics of the completed project mate, just so I can see the height of it installed
  14. Happy Birthday Brendan!
