VNT turbos have been around for years and do work well but they are not generally available in larger sizes, I know that mercedes sprinter vans have been running them for years with good results but I cannot see them taking over the performance scene anytime in the near future. How VNT™ Works - Honeywell Turbo Technologies.
  4. if you must the only option is to fit the t04z front wheel to a gt35 turbo, anything else isnt worth the hassle.
  5. Haha the old garden hose theory! Basically by the time you engineered a turbo with bigger wheels to fit inside a gt35 you could have paid for a manifold etc and had a proper setup. This is without even considering that once you did squeeze the bigger internals into the gt35 that the housing and stock manifold would become so much of a restriction that it would basically negate any gains that you would see. The end result would be lots of lag with not much power increase and you would be a very disapointed camper. My back to back testing on only 10 psi showed that the stock manifold is costing 12% power as it is, the more power you make the more power it will cost you so trying to cheat the system so to speak simply does not work.
  6. To answer your first question, the engines last a long time, the turbo will last 200,000klm+ if you keep a steady stream of clean oil upto it. As for the rest of your post, that must be some good sh*t youre smokin lol.
  7. I have downloaded that file and it still wont work without an installation cd for some reason, I will just buy a card reader.
  8. It does auto detect the camera when I plug it in but it wont download pics, keeps asking for the installation cd which does not have vista. I have also been to the site that bensxr6t posted and downloaded the first file but still nothing. I think the card reader may be my best bet but I never get a chance to get to the shops lol.
  9. Basically I am at my wits end trying to find a driver for my canon eos 300d camera to suit windows vista 32 bit. Any help from one of you tech guru's (and I know you're out there will be much appreciated. Cheers Leigh
  10. I have pictures if anyone can help me to find a driver for my canon eos300d camera that is compatable with windows vista 32 bit I will post them up.
  11. How much does a tailshaft weigh at 6000rpm?
  12. The andra rule book says anything under 13.0. Section 4.2.4
  13. Water injection when done properly is great, the plan you have though will only end in disappointment. We tested the effects that water/metho in a 50/50 mix had on my ute over 12 months ago and the results were a gain of 20rwkw but it didnt just happen instantly. I used a snow performance kit which has its own little computer that lets you adjust the amount of total water aswell as the ramp rate at which the water gets injected. The ramp rate is crucial to getting good results, just using a boost activated switch will cause the engine to bog down as too much water will be injected initially if you are to get anywhere near the correct amount of water being injected at max rpm. You need to find the sweet spot to get it working to your advantage and without that little computer you will be pissing in the wind. You would have more chance of guessing the lotto numbers than of getting it right with the system you were thinking of. In short save your coin for a snow performance kit and some dyno time.
  14. I have put some thought into the design of tailshaft loops into xr6 turbos. I use a 360 degree chromoly loop which is welded into place in the transmission tunnel and has been andra approved. They weigh next to nothing and can be fitted in under an hour unlike the bulky bolt in generic versions out there. If you would like more info send me a pm and I will be more than happy to help you out.
  15. ETM also does complete kits for xr6t's which no other manufacturer does which save you a lot of headache in the long run as you do not have to chase up hard to find loose ends and truck the car around to have the remaining pieces of the kit fabricated up.
  16. Not all manifolds are created equal, boost control is something that not a lot of turbo manufacturers take into account and ETM manifolds have the best boost control on the market bar none. If you want to have a chat about it brad give me a call on 0242 628 774 or email me at turbomanifolds@bigpond.com and I will help you out with anything you need to know. AIM-300 I am not sure where your information comes from but it is incorrect.
  17. I think it will work pretty well but you will get some pressure drop for sure due to the 2nd tank being a u-turn bay lol.Basically yopu will have double cool air but not much can pass through at any given time
  18. Its the fact that we put in literally hundreds of hours building these cars and dont even get a mention, it just doesnt seem fair. Ps we arent worried about the cars below us on the list just the ones above us
  19. I ran a 10.45 132mph with a 1.58 60'
  20. On my work ute I have standard coils 160,000klm old the car has been making 400rwkw for the last 40,000klm of its life, run a 10.4 quarter mile, towed cars from melb to qld in near 40 degree heat ,gone to the snow no less than 15 times in sub zero conditions (see pic). I also have an alloy cover plate (see pic) and have NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH COILS. We have also made well over 500rwkw with another car using stock coils. Strawberry you obviously have other problems and are blindly blaming the coils.
  21. If it were on less of an angle the air filter pipe would hit the power steering pump. Fitting a gt42 into a ba engine bay there is a lot of things to take into account that most people probably dont notice when they look at it finished in the engine bay.
  22. its a test to see if the problem is mechanical or is in the tune itself.
  23. it has a massive effect, makes the engine respond like a wet biscuit
