Understatement of the day.....
Thankfully Whincup held it all together and kept his nose clean to bring it home....
Courtney and Lowndes....both guilty of some stupid manouvres through the day....and taking an innocent Winterbottom out with their shananegns.....
Steve Johnson gets shafted on the second last restart.....
Garry Rogers must be doing handstands with the consistency of young Holdsworth.....
McConville...jeeesus, who would have thought a result like that could have fallen into his lap....
HSV/Toll...from a Ford fans point of view.....what a great day......
Lastly , the carnage, and it was through all the support races too....heres hoping that Ashley Cooper and Matt Kingsley come out of it ok.....that crash during the ute race was nasty....

Incredibly impetuous racing from Courtney, with so much racing ahead... Mate, what a crap place to come off at all, not just after being overlapped and not yielding... Plain stupid and at a great cost to Ford, championship wise..

Reading on the LS1 site that one of the members wives works at the Adelaide hospital and tells him that doctors have told Ashley Cooper's family that he is now "brain dead".
They are now waiting on his family to decide about turning off his life support systems.
Just tragic.....you have to feel for them.....

my condolences to Ashley's family.
Always a sad day for the sport when anyone dies whether it be a top driver or someone in club level.
My only hope is that the rumour is false and he will make a speedy recovery.

Yes, very sad news indeed... condolences to his family and those of the other drivers hurt today... Motorsport certainly isnt lawn bowls, always lots of risk and when your numbers up...

I guess no matter how safe you try to make it, accidents can and will happen. Lets hope we can all take a lesson from this.... Race track or just on the way to the shops... Be as careful as one can be...

Time to spend some of the profits the business that runs this show makes on track safety, as this weekend has proven conclusively that it IS NOT a safe track in any way shape or form.
Also time to kick the stupid fcuker stewards that penalised Johnson as well.
At least big nose and big ears along with the smelly brothers came no where. That was good enough for me.

CAMS Statement: Ashley Cooper
CAMS Media Release
25 Feb 2008
It is with deep regret that the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) confirms that Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series driver Ashley Cooper, aged 27, of Ulladulla in New South Wales, has passed away in Royal Adelaide Hospital today following a race incident last Saturday at the Clipsal 500.
Cooper, an experienced motor racing competitor, was critically injured when his vehicle impacted with the safety barrier at the exit of a corner. He was quickly attended to trackside by the event's senior medical personnel and subsequently transported to the Royal Adelaide Hospital by ambulance.
There were no other vehicles involved in the incident and no one else was injured.
CAMS President, Colin Osborne, said that Cooper's passing was something that would be felt by the entire Australian motor sport community.
"Firstly our thoughts and sympathies go to Ashley's family and friends, particularly his wife Casey and two children and parents Alan and Maree," said Osborne.
"It is always a very sad day when any member of the motor sport community is taken from us.
"The motor racing community involves a close knit group of competitors and officials and I know that everyone will be feeling the loss of Ashley.
"CAMS will conduct its own full independent investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the incident. In the mean time, CAMS and event officials are working with the relevant civil authorities to assist with their investigations."
CAMS Chief Executive Officer, Graham Fountain, praised the actions of officials immediately following the incident.
"We have to thank our Clipsal 500 Adelaide officials for their swift and professional actions as the loss of Ashley will no doubt have an effect on our many volunteers who work tirelessly at amateur and professional motor sport events around the country each weekend.
"Our extensive counselling and support services will be offered to Ashley's family and friends as well as to the competitors and officials involved in the event to help them though this tragic time."
CAMS will provide further details on Cooper's funeral arrangements when they become available.
Deepest condolences to his wife Casy & family
