well lets start, I am keen for a cruise, how about for the 23rd of feb? its a saturday, I wouldnt mind starting to organise a few cruises and getting to know a few people, I only moved to canberra from the gold coast 3 weeks ago, I know it was a dumb idea but 22 years on the gold coast is a bit to much.. anyways, whos keen for the cruise??
exarsixturbo
I'm keen for a cruise but can't make anything until April sometime. I'm away for a few weeks betweeen now and then.

Also, love the topic title! With all this rain we are having the roundabouts come in handy for something!

One more thing - who owns the silver T with black ACT plates and the stockies on the back...? I manage to see you almost every day.
ms700
Weekend of the 23rd Feb is bad for me, going to Syndey for a engagement party!

Generally Sundays are the go, more people tend to have them off, can go for a fang out to the Cotter, have a bbq, talk a bit of poo poo, then fang back.

Im usually out most Fri/Sat nights cruising around, upsetting as many people as i can!

The ACT contingent is fairly small, i think there is about 5 of us?
revheadrobbo

Depending on whats doing i may from time to time come down mickus

This sounds like a reasonable plan once we can work out a suitable weekend. Dave C and Graham might be interested too.
Blink
well I am definitely interested and dont usually have plans on my weekends so just keep me updated of when and where happy.gif

Make that 6 and I agree that Sundays are better. I haven't been out to the Cotter so that sounds good.
Blink
well just so we can get things going a bit quicker, how about Sunday 2nd march? if anyone is interested post below and we could organise what we could do..
dingah2
I'll try and alert the new owner of my T to this thread and the potential for a Canberra run .
Dave C will be in it providing there's a dyno at the end of the run!

2nd March will work for me.
ms700
2nd of march good for the majority?

Whats the plan? Cruise to the Cotter for a BBQ?

Any other suggestions?
Phoontastic

BBQ at Cotter sounds fine to me. Happy to take a scenic route to get there, or on the way back. Perhaps we could assemble at the Ampol on Federal Higway heading out of town at 0900, then head to Bungendore for a look at Woodworks and coffee, then head to Cotter for BBQ and general chat. What do you think?
angermagnt
im down for whatever. let me know. 2nd of march sounds good also.
exarsixturbo
withstupid.gif I'm driving up to powercruise on Saturday, but I should be right for Sunday provided we don't set off at some un-godly hour of the morning....
ms700
If im helping organise this thing, there will be no super early get out of beds!

If we aim to get ot the cotter bout 12:30 we shoudl be right. Dunno how long it would take to go from Watson through bung then back.

Watson to Bungendore takes about 20 minutes going down Federal Highway and Macs Reef Road. Drinking coffee and talking sh*te would take about an hour. Then a slow trip (yeh right) to Cotter would take about 45 minutes I'm guessing. That means if we left Watson at 0930 we'd probably be at Cotter by around 1200 or so.
Blink
yeah sounds good to me, just let me know what the final plan is, i will buy all the food if you like and everyone can chip in, im easy.
ms700
Sorry guys, gotta pull out already, came off my mountain bike @ stromlo park in a supposedly spectacular fashion yesterday, and now my right arm doesnt work very well.....

If i can con the missus into driving, ill come along, ill see how we go.
exarsixturbo
Not good to hear mate! Being an avid downhill mountain biker and motocross rider I certainly know what it’s like to have bits of you that don't work! Got the scars to prove it! Hope the arm heals up soon.

Can I put myself down as a maybe also? There is talk of me staying at powercruise on Saturday - not sure but. I don't want to stuff everyone around, so if I'm not there at 9.30 - don't wait for me.

Thanks for thinking of me Max. Unfortunately for me, the missus is away in Peru for work, so it's just me and the girls - and somehow I don't think they'd appreciate the cruise, much as they like being in the car. My brother may have been able to have babysat the girls for me had he and his wife not just had their first bub yesterday! ooh4.gif

Maybe next time, enjoy the cruise guys! spoton.gif

Jeez, that must feel awesome. One of these fine days you're gonna have to take me for a drive Max, just so I can see how 350+rwkw (in the six speed!) compares to an XR6T with 'only' 300+rwkw (with the four speed crybaby.gif ).

yer kit had a play with mine for me.. but he wants me to get my air intake and an exhaust before he will custom tune mine for me.. i want to put my car at around 350 mark.. what kind of exhaust are you's running. i got told that the exhaust on the xr6t can handle quite abit of power. it just needs the cat back redon.. is this true?
bugster70

Yeah, they can quite happily handle around 300rwkw (with slight modifications), but I'm not sure about 350. I've had my cat replaced with a 3.5" MetalCat and had the centre muffler replaced with twin hot dogs, so it still looks stock but handles 309rwkw nicely. Unless you've got the 6 speed or a strengthened 4 speed, your 'box may have issues with 350rwkw. But we're getting off topic here...

My kids are coming, but they are revheads - take after their mother......

No worries about going for a drive. The comparison would be interesting as the 6 speed is such a brilliant box in my opinion. It's always in the right gear, and with the settings tweaked it changes so firm yet smoothly when you give it a hit. 3gears.gif

The biggest hassle is getting traction in first and second, but I don't mind that problem too much!! w00t2.gif

350rwkw is a great number. What gearbox and bottom end are you running? Bugster is right, if you're running a 5 speed you'll soon find its limit. I'm running an Xforce 3.5" exhaust and it's fine for the sort of power you're after. If you're happy to wait a month or so I'll be able to offer you the exhaust, Nizpro cooler and intake piping for a good price.
angermagnt
Just got the stock 5 speed gearbox... but im thinking of giving malwood a call and gettin a T56. apart from that the rest of the car is stock... all i have had done is just the middle muffler removed and put in straight pipping instead. sounds nice for now..

I am going to get some valve springs and a new fuel pump soon so my car can handle the power. but not sure what ealse needs to be done as i was a holden V8 man and now... have "crossed to the dark side" and got the turbs. so any info on good parts i should get or what i will need for 350kw would be good.

also interested in this exhaust, Nizpro cooler and intake piping for a good price. very interested. what damage would be in my wallet roughly? so i can get some funds together stirthepot.gif

Let's talk about it at the run on Sunday.

ok, so what is the exact plan guys for tomorrow, I think ampol has changed to caltex on the federal highway, can someone confirm that though? where we meeting at what time? food etc?

Caltex...I think you're right.... the one on the right hand side of the roundabout as you're heading out of town going up the hill up Federal Highway (near the speed cameras). Plan as I see it:

0930 Meet at the Caltex servo. schild27.gif

0945 Head up Federal Hwy, right into Mac's Reef Rd for Bungendore for coffee & chat. eclipsee_steering.gif

1045 Depart Bungendore for Cotter via Queanbeyan. Route past Queanbeyan includes Monaro Highway, right into Johnson Drive which becomes Woodcock, right into Jim Pike Ave, right into Point Hut Rd, Tidbinbilla Rd, Paddy's River Rd, Cotter Dam. auto.gif

Things to bring - CB radio or hand held, what ever you want to burn on a BBQ and wash it down, plenty of stories, maybe a spud (football), blow-up doll if you need a navigator wub.gif .

See ya in the morning zzz.gif
galconn

See ya at the meeting point (Caltex) at 09:30

No worries Blink, it was great to meet you and your navigator. We had a good time, although the poor kid in the Pulsar didn't. I wonder how he got on with his dad?? I found out what the noise was.......the 30mm front sway bar demolished the rod that connects it to the lower arm. (You were right Gav!!). All better now.

angermagnt
what happened to the kid in the pulsar?
exarsixturbo
Sorry I ended up missing this one lads, a 17 hour day on Saturday saw me still asleep until after 9.30 on Sunday morning. I even had plans to meet you at the cotter in the afternoon with my crew of moto boys as we were going for a ride, until one of them hand-grenade his bike and we spent the arvo dismantling the engine.

Anyway, hope you all had a good time, and will be there for the next one!
Blink
when we were on the way to cotter, there was a red pulsar with a young guy and his gf in the car, dave and phoon overtook the car, but i was stuck behind until I could see an opening and the guy in the pulsar started to try and keep up with the xr6's (bad decision) then he lost it around a corner and smashed into the wall and ruined his car, so we all pulled over and helped and gave them a lift to cotter.
angermagnt
WOW!!! wtf was he thinking lol. there has been a couple of accidents on that road..
