Interesting that scources reckon WPS have agreed to terms to purchase the 2 FPR chassis that Mr Winterbottom and Mr Richards are currently running, for next season's racing.

The story doesnt discuss an engine supply deal, however the boys suggest that FPR is likely to provide customer engines to this squad.

Firstly it seems odd that a team not supported by Ford is buying cars from the factory Ford team, but when you want a whole deal, the only other option is SBR.. and they seem a little busy right now...

Secondly it shows the team is headed by a racer, and not just a marketer/accountant type. To buy 2 cars which may not get much change out of $1million, to run for a single year, while still having 3 serviceable units in the shed already is a ballsy move and sets them up well potentially for customer Orions as FPR brings them on stream.

It will also mean Mr Richards and Mr Winterbottom shall start 2008 with shiny new chassis...

The only downside I would suggest is the much rumoured FPR/FRSR hookup for the maingame and development series may need to contract/look elsewhere... unless the ex-TKR chassis is to reemerge in the maingame with Mr Thompson at the wheel.

There seems to be quite a few new chassis being built for next season, with the 2 FPR units, and a spare, the 2nd and 3rd new BFs being built at 888, SBR has at least one new chassis on the jig.

And DJR are a long way down the path towards taking delivery of ex-888 chassis, thats if the budget can be raised, while PCR takes delivery of Mr Lowndes 2007 chassis, WPS taking delivery of the current FPR cars, it seems just about everyone on the blue side will have new or upgraded toys from the start of the year.

You would imagine some of these teams actually delayed building any more BA/BF chassis, while the Orion was scheduled to debut midseason... and shows a huge commitment from all the teams on the blue side to a model that will likely be superseded at the end of next season....

The development series should be awash with hot cars in 2009.
