Hey guys.
The other day i realised i had lost my logbook and extended warranty book for my 2003 xr6 turbo.
The car had an extended warranty till 2009 purchased by the previous owner which i transfered to my name. I am the third owner. On taking my car to ford to get a problem with the alarm fixed i was told that without proof of ford services over its life they cannot work on my car under the warranty. There is no one ford database that stores all services on the car as iv found as each dealer has its own database. I remember the car was stamped for every service in the book by ford and i had it serviced at ultra tune for its 75000km which was its last service and the only one i have performed as iv had the car only 9 months. I have no idea which ford dealership the car has been serviced in the past and iv tried ringing around but cant find any records apart from the 60000km service. In the past i have had warranty work done on the car with no issue so ford were happy with the car at that point. So now i have been sent a letter stating my new car warranty is voided. This seems ridiculous!
Has anyone had a similar problem? I know im a goose for losing my logbooks but this must happen often.

if you can figure out what company the extended warranty was done through - ie Ford Credit, Allianz etc - an agent of that company could pull up the history of the car

Maybe your attitude has a lot to do with the fact that no Ford dealers, or anyone else for that matter will assist you in your ext warranty endeavours.....

sorry. Just too many people on here just looking to heckle rather than help.
Yeah it was through ford. They said they cant check the overall history of the cars services, theres no one database. Have to call up each ford dealer individually which iv tried doing and havnt had much luck. fraid im the victim of an unlucky chain of events. If you havnt done it yet, photocopy your logbooks!

I don't mean Ford Dealerships, i mean Ford themselves, or Ford Credit rather, they should have the rego and VIN details attached to an account number for your car, if you transferred the ownership details properly, they will have it on file

Have you tried geting hold of the previous owner and finding out which dealership he bought the extended warranty through. If you don't have the original transfer papers with his details, couldn't you go to your licensing centre and get them.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but with Ford's extended warranty don't they explicitly say you need to have it serviced by Ford?
Unlike the statute new car warranty that allows for servicing to be carried out elsewhere.
If this is true then by taking it to Ultra Tune for your last service has just voided your extended warranty anyway so you can stop looking for the log books now.

Thanks to all those that tried to help and apologies for anyone i offended but as you can understand i was stressing a bit at the time.
Its all sorted now.
The original problem was that ford knew my extended warranty was there but without proof of a service history which is what i couldnt track down they wanted to cancel the warranty.
I wrote a leter directly to ford and a copy of my ultra tune service which proved 2 services and they agreed to allow the warranty to still be valid. phew.. I think the fact that i mentioned theyd done work on the car before under warranty without checking the logbooks probably helped as well.
Just means without the logbook now i have to wait every time i have work done for it to be approved by ford which can take a week or so.

Hah!
I once bought some Krispy Kreme doughnuts on a Sydney to Brisbane flight and when I went to the parking station at the airport some guy needed help working out the machine. So I put the parcel on top of the pay machine, helped him, paid my parking and then left without picking up the parcel!
Got home - obviously no doughnuts! Wife wasn't impressed.
Cheers

Hey Chad, I ordered a new log/ service book from ford for my BF ($96.00) and metro ford looked on the computer and pulled up the service records and re-stamped and signed/ dated full records.
Metro also printed buyer info and first registered owner detail sticker for inside front cover, Gave me a cupper, some bickies, some choclates and watch the melbourne cup while I was waiting...

I'm selling my Focus at the moment. I went to pull out the Log Book to prove that I had always had it regularly serviced. Guess what? The dealer NEVER stamped the book! The only stamp was from my friendly local workshop who I've been using the last year and a half. If I had an extended warranty I would be even more pissed off....
Lucky I kept the receipts though! Lesson: ALWAYS check the book after every service and make sure it was stamped!
