I Just stumbled on this abomination on ebay, who do ford think there kidding by putting gold stripes on a black GT and trying to pass it off as somthing special. Why does ford need to constantly tarnish the GT reputation with such shocking ventures like the EB GT, EL GT and now this, even after the original BA GT managed to achieve a great step forward in the wake of the glory days of the XY GTHO Phase III. We all new the 40th was comming but that thing is a disgrace...

Old news, but the thing is no matter what they charge they will probably all sell, and i think they know that.

Its a bit of a shame, making a 40th anniversary GT with only minor cosmetic changes, plus different suspension.. whoopee doo. Why not slap a supercharger on it, charge an extra $10,000 if they have to, and they will sell like hot cakes!

My ol' man has an EB GT and while I was blown away by the handling, it is slow, by any day's standards, and they cost $65 000 when they were new.

The EL GT was slow, well not clearly quicker than an EL2 XR8 and only a shade quicker than an EL XR6, and they cost $70 000 when they were new.

Considering that it is 10 years later than the EL and this is only $10 000 more expensive, 50% more powerful and perhaps over one second quicker its probably not that bad a deal.

If the GT weren't part of the line up and it had been ten years since a GT had been produced then we would probably be over the moon with this.

there's one sitting in the showroom of my local ford dealer, it looks hot, and i walk past it every day and admire it, if i were in the position to buy one, i would have, regardless of how fast it is, its all about the nameplate.....GT will always be special, no matter what the specs.....

Thats right, I saw one the other day in my sh!thole desert town and even though i'm over V8's bark's being worse than their bite's (thanks to the xr6t) I couldn't help but be moved, such a presence.

Now why the fark didnt they do this with the GT... Fark the Cobra (in my mind) wasnt that special..

I couldn't agree with you more! At the end of the day all they were only tarted up 2 door falcons that had a different paint job & interior!
