  1. I honestly don't think doing the gearbox on the floor is that bad. Did it quite comfortably laying on my creeper. I think most of it's easier to deal with if on the ground. Starter motor bolts were easy. Did it from underneath, 3/8 drive cordless ratchet, could've used a normal ratchet no issues, 6" extension and 13mm socket no probs. If you're trying to do it from the top in the engine bay then you're going to have real trouble lol I have done, and could think of a lot worse jobs. I'd much rather do this stuff on cars than say dig holes for soakwells, or landscaping, paving etc. Try working on boats where you have so much crap stuffed into the smallest spaces. Quite often laying wedged into voids working at fukt up angles, arms at full extension working by feel only. It was actually quite therapeutic for me working on the XR last night after the sh*t I had to do at work this week Yep was always the plan. Probably happened a little sooner than expected, but the T56 was too good a price to pass up!

  2. Small update Have sold the T5 gearbox, and purchased a T56 6 speed with Mal Wood option 5 clutch courtesy of Brad @HI PSI While I have the box out and waiting for the new one to arrive I'll be doing the rear main seal on the motor. So tonight I pulled that measly excuse of a gearbox out. Just need to pull clutch and flywheel out tomorrow ready for pick up on the weekend. Got extensions? That's a 500mm with a 375mm wobble drive on the end

  5. On-board wideband controller is great too. Less stuffing around with wiring and setting up software etc.

  7. So I removed the clutch and flywheel this morning. Appears rear main isn't leaking. Looks like it's the sump gasket. So I guess it's engine out time. If engine is out and sump is coming off where do I stop....... hmmmmmm Hey @eff xr6t still want to get rid of those F6 rods? Not the best photo as I already gave it a wipe

  10. Don't feel too bad about it. Now that most of the tuning is done it'll be a quick job to scale the injectors and turn the boost up etc. It is well known that you should do as much as possible before a tune so you don't pay for retuning. Hey, we live and learn.

  16. Most pissed off post I’ve ever had to write. 2 days ago my dad got taken in an ambulance with shallow breathing and I high heart rate, was diagnosed with clots on the lungs, given meds and told he was going to be all good just needed to stay in for a while. Took the boys in that night to say goodnight even though he was still in resus, they didn’t wanna let me but I did. Went in to see him the next morning before work, he was chipper... ordered the Tv package for him and gave him a kiss. Two hours later he was gone. I got the call he’d stopped breathing and as I sprinted into the hospital a doctor grabbed me and whisked me into a room with my mum... I just kept screaming “no”. By far the sh*ttest last 2 days of my life. My dad was still working 12 hours a day, still being normal, we had been living with him and Mum for a week and a half due to the impending move and other than the laboured breathing for a couple days (which I’d been hounding him about) he was fine. I’m just beyond shattered and I feel like an empty person, my dad was my best mate and my hero. I keep waiting for him to walk in the door and say “hey pal”. My mum is beyond hysterical... her husband of 40 years is gone. I love my dad more than anything, he was all of our rocks and now he’s gone. I feel like we weren’t done yet and I’m still in disbelief. People always say nice things about the dead, but my dad really was the nicest person on the face of this earth. He’s give his shirt to anyone in need and often did. He would do anything to make me and my mum happy and always did. The amount of visitors and love we’ve all had is amazing and it makes you realise the impact he had on so many people. All of a sudden I’m now faced with organising funerals and estates and I thought maybe 30 people, but I’m thinking about 150-200 already want to come. I’m so thankful someone that amazing was my dad. I feel so empty but so thankful and fulfilled I got to have him in my life. Anyway... rant over... still pissed off.
