  1. Polished some rims for a 1988 VL Walkinshaw I did wonder why someone would want to polish a set of standard rims But the plastic pig is an Aussie classic [emoji3] Edit: took aprox 6 hours each

  2. Joe (HoonTune) has finished his testing of the custom tunes and reported back. Great news it is working perfectly He now has a car with wild cams driving perfectly (MAP being used instead of Cam Angle to clean up fueling) Custom Gear Based Boost control is being used on car with over 1000RWHP to get hook up in the lower gears on the street tyres and getting full boost/power in the higher gears. Note the factory calibration does not support it gear based boost control (it is a MK II FG turbo 6 and it is not running the XR6 Sprint calibration). Pretty happy with the result, now any Falcon can have Gear Based Boost control and much more.

  3. Brought myself a new daily, A repossessed XR6 BA MK2, previous owner only had it for 2 months obviously decided he had more important things to pay for. Forgot how nice they drive when the diff bushes and suspension bushes aren’t all flogged. Had to get a new set of keys cut too - $460

  4. No way - the Polarizer was the way we should have all gone Am still having to clear up all those negatrons from my engine bay after a hard run. Should see the mess under the car when I forget to hang the crystal from the mirror.

  5. Brock lost his marbles , but still knew how to build and drive a fast car. He refused to put his name on that LAME VL SS..

  6. Will be doable - until it catches on and "gets cool" and goes from $3 a neck to $30 a neck

  7. Trim the fat off - smoke for a few hours then smoke in juice for a few hours (heaps of collagen and connective tissue so needs the low/slow time to render/soften) Pull soft meat off the bones and have in rolls with pickles, coleslaw, cheese etc. Will use rosemary sprigs on the coals for the smoke 2nd line you wrote looks about my plan - few hours warming up and getting smoke then a few hours soaking up juices and getting softer.

  8. Its a nice one but they were rubbish. I had a VH group 3 back then, threw out the 308 and dropped in a 400HP 350 chev and a 9 inch, was killa in the day... And this was totally LAME. drove one and laughed. Mine was like this

  9. Nah they need high comp, a decent cam, headers, exhaust and a tune at a minimum to go alright. I've had a couple of stock efi 5.0's and one done up one. They are pretty dismal when they are stock.

  13. Piston selection is a crucial balancing act and definitely something to ponder but there’s loads of them out there Yes spool is a cheaper option and yes they aren’t as quite as others so that’s the trade right there cosworth is arguably the best piston money can buy for this engine platform and exclusively built for Brad at atomic you get everything here ( quiet/massive HP capacity ) but cost is the offset Manley have a decent piston with skirt coatings for a reasonable dollar and a pretty decent all round offering Mahale have the FGF6 piston that’s a semi forged item, super cheap super quiet but imho rated to 25psi absolutely maximum on E85 probably 22psi on 98 as the ringlands ( on stock ring gap )and technology within the piston isn’t there for a mass production offering Mahale also offer a range of other pistons to suit the falcon XR6T with very good manners and costs any piston that’s a semi forged will be cold quieter than forged full forged has bigger power capacity cast pistons are the cheapest and quietest now here’s where it gets funky..... the cast pistons in the FG Xr6t are (IMHO) better at bigger power than the FG F6 semi forged Mahale piston ( weird I know ) the ringlands on cast pistons have more “flex” than semi or full forged ( on stock ring gap ) getting a new set of FG pistons/rings but say a spool Rod will happily crank out 550rwkw with an appropriate ring gap to suit the target boost/fuel with factory PTB clearance sooooo many ways to skin a cat on a budget as above , got some coin and want to push it go Cosworth with a 0.50 over and hone and line boar the block to suit with a torque plate on to the stud pressure you’re going to run basically how fast can your wallet go ? yes get a new balancer as the Atomic street balancer is miles better than factory and sub $300 dont just get the gears, go a full pump assembly as there’s more than just gears in that puppy again full assembly is sub $1300 swop the yellaterra plate for the Atomic HD plate, one look any you’ll know where every cent went again sub $600 clean the FG head up ( cold tank ) and skim the deck 0.002 of an * new exhaust valves for turbo are around $30ea from ford Plazmaman springs are the new spec and really good ( all retainers/locks are generic across turbo/NA so don’t worry about new retainers ) just under $400 a set I cannot stress enough to change the chain/tensioner/guides/lower sprocketand pivot guide at the same time as the factory stuff isn’t great at maintaining pressure against the tensioner under fast fluctuations obviously Atomic again all of this stuff and a pump assembly and HD street balancer is $2460 inc gst and postage ( I had this exact package priced up this morning for another member ) I can supply all of the part above and make it much better than RRP if you want I can even get all the valves/gaskets/seals and odds n sods for you if you need shout out happy to help

  15. You have pretty much described exactly where I am aiming with my car to get a nice, strong daily driver. On what I've read, I wouldn't worry about the F6 cooler and would either forget it or go better. It is probably the one thing you could change later and not need a retune. I'd remove the question marks next to the fuel pump - they barely cost $100 for a Walbro 255 and are good insurance. Where are you located?
