  2. Not really the old man gets an xmas ham and single malt scotch that he wouldn't have gotten himself or off his own bat the old girl gets a full day at the Peninsula Hot Springs with brekkie/lunch with either dad or my sister that she wouldn't have done otherwise Those aren't things they'd be comfortable receiving normally On xmas day they're wrapped and that gives both them and me pleasure Not really I may get socks and jocks this year - or a doonah/sheet set - or a bottle of hot sauce - or a voucher for a night out - or a set of tyres for my car Not for one second do I do any sort of calculations of monetary value - the thought process in choosing the gift (if any) speaks more than the value of it Card/vouchers are fantastic for teens/young adults - I've found they start to plan what they're going to get with the gift card pretty much as soon as they are given it. For some cash would go on their bills/ciggies/booze/hookers etc - at least the voucher "forces" them to grab an actual item and lets them pick one they want. With a voucher you're able to give them a narrower focus of where to spend it and lets them know you have some understanding of their interests ("Hey - a game for the console mum and dad gave you for xmas", "Hey - I know you want to get a decent ski jacket - go find yourself a decent one", "Hey - I know you've just moved into your own place and are starting the garden - go pick some nice plants/decorations from Bunnings") Also lets them take advantage of boxing day sales - maybe they can find a 2 for 1 deal or decent discount, allowing them to stack the stocking a bit higher or get an item that would have been out of the budget otherwise. Next time you visit - "Hey Rab - come play this game/look at the jacket I chose/have some tomatoes from the veggie patch we made" I don't think there's a person that matters that I don't see/talk to regularly enough that I need to make it a special event for xmas lol, or that a visit from me would be considered a present

  6. If that question is for me....I wanted everything to be strong. I built the rest of the car because I wanted everything strong,I didnt want any weak links...the last thing and most expensive was the engine. Its a car that will never see a drag strip,I just take it out on weekends. It was due for a service May 2016 but im still 2000klms away from that to show how little it is driven. Its a 2009 model with 53,000klms. I went to see Simon today to have a chat,I dont like all drama myself, he was repectful and originally when I spoke to him he was complimentary of his main competitor. He explained that the planetary gear is stock unless you pay 8k for a box so even a "built" box can fail. My point was I never new I had a weak link, I thought great,I dont have to worry about that, onto the next thing. He said Nizpro would have replaced the input shaft...I dunno,im just 50k into this car with suspension wheels etc so I was annoyed to have to build a box I wasnt happy with from day one. I shook hands and took down my Google comments. So for me that's the end of it. I want to get the thing ran in and enjoy it. Merry xmas to all!!

  10. What do you feel was the implication behind this part of the response?

  11. Yes that’s correct, I’m having a shot At @arronm for once in the same manner he does to nearly EVERYONE else on here ( minimal information or factual insight ) and I really don’t see this as an epic display of dummy spitting behaviour The sad part is what I’ve said in my above post seems like it’s ringing true and that’s shocking for @SeduceG6Et67 to have to have his story thrown to the side like it’s not important or the fact said workshop pipes up once in two years to basically shoot the bloke down and dismiss his claims then clearly note “he doesn’t have the time” in more or less words ( yeh congratulations XFT you didn’t have to post what people know ) professionalism with a situation separates the real workshops and no one is saying every workshop is perfect. I believe this platform is much better that Facebook for getting a point across, gathering information or a workshop having a chance to explain themselves and yes there’s threads with very little B/S in them and full of good old genuine information any platform of information sharing is open to bellends talking crap and even if you take 10% off of what facts have been posted as “inflating” the situation it’s still a super crappy situation for old mate who’s out of pocket, lucky for him Rob at Monster Torque has done the right thing by him and obviously talked him through any modification path, explained what he’s getting and how it’s suited to what he wants from his vehicle and you know what .... to bloody right he should, workshops are quick to take your money but very reluctant to engage when it goes sideways and hopefully more people see why Monster Torque should be the right choice for them and their hard earned money bugger all happens on this forum compared to what it used to be and a bulk of “New content” is dribble and jokes, don’t be so serious Brendan on that note.... are you Pro gift vouchers or Cash for Christmas.... it’s a serious thing you know just ask keify

  18. So much for it being 42 today. 34 is still a bit warm for lifting but much nicer than 42. It's still rising though, it's gone up 0.4 of a degree in 5 minutes. The shed is indoor and outdoor is in the shade near the house.

  20. @JETURBO your useless posts are of no value here. I know of plenty of happy customers from the XFT camp. It’s annoying when you get someone come on here and air their dirty laundry and bag out a workshop based on the opinion of someone in direct competition. No really fair! My 2 cents!

  21. Only issue I have with mine is it's too tall to fit in the average office shirt or cotton drill work shirt top pocket. Apart from that can't fault mine. It's replaced my work diary and organisor and my tablet when I travel. Then genuine Samsung wireless charger is the sh*t too makes a handy stand as well. Having said that I'm of the opinion of get what works for you. If you prefer apple get apple vice versa if you don't get an Android. It's not war and peace people.

  22. Yep. Cash goes into the wallet and makes no difference in the long run Card/voucher gets spent on something they actually want, wouldn't have gotten otherwise and can consider your present to them.

  23. Our family literally does no presents, unless under 12 or over 80 lol. Being 21 suits me just fine I need to spend more money on car parts anyway.
