  5. If you fit a set of spool rods to it it will be cheap. I would disassemble the whole motor and check everything as it goes back together to be sure but at 70k if it's been looked after the bores will still be like brand new. When buying the rods spool usually come with the rods still requiring a Finnish hone to the small end bush which most machine shops should be able to do. Then it's just a case of checking all the clearance as you reassemble it. Would also add in there whilst your at it billet oil pump gears and port the housing and put all the upgraded atomic timing chain and guides. And some headstuds because why not. If your capable of doing assembling the motor your self it will be relatively cheap. $600 for rods $150 at most to hone the small end to suit. $100 for a new headgasket. Plus obviously all the gears, timing set etc but will be a stronger motor then a fg short. This is what I would do if the car was mine and I would be happy to send it to 550+kw without being worried at all.

  9. Sorry mate a BA even with 70k on the clock will need more than just a direct swop of rods, there will be so many associated parts thet will need checking/cleaning/machining/testing and then complete assembly again even if the pistons/boar are already in good condition but I place bets on at 300+rwkw the boars will need a machine/hone/overboar to clean up at around 15-20 though as they wear "out of round" the fact is you could just do a rod swop but why would you screw less than perfect back together when going for power results ?, you just wouldn't shes a slippery slope mate as a semi built engine will swollow 7-10K easy as the "basic" upgrade list is long ! a Typical mechanic/mechanical workshop will charge with machine costs and labour close to what a good aftermarket bottom end is to buy direct from Atomic or the like a cheap option is a new FGF6 short from Ford for ~ $3800 drop it in with some good timing gear and a checked over head with new studs you should be able to get away with a solid 400rwkw capable package for around 7k if you're doing it yourself

  12. Don't need a log book Steve, just get a L2S CAMS Licence. You will need to be a member of an CAMS afilliated club as well. The SRT Sprint stage is interesting, can be quite slippery, and the kerbs are rather unforgiving. It is heaps of fun though and rather enjoyable too.

  15. hey guys , yep did get to the end of this after buying a new ecu and eveyrthing haha turned out to be a slight intake manifold leak on no1 underneath gasket , the factory ecu is quite smart and it sees the leak and compensates by dropping no6 to balance the engine , replaced the intake manifold gasket and its been good as new haha

  16. Speaking of dildos I marinated some lamb ribs tonight and cooked them on the barby. I didn't get pics but they were tasty. Here's the recipe that I found online; 1/4 cup white vinegar 2 teaspoons salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 2 cloves garlic, crushed 1 brown onion, thinly diced 2 tablespoons olive oil 1kg lamb chops Mix it all together and chuck it into a tough bag so the bones don't poke holes in it. I used a shopping bag. Move it around to get it evenly coated and give it a couple of hours in the fridge. I just gave it 45 mins on the bench and it turned out alright. Scrape the onion off the lamb before you chuck it on the barby. I had mash with steamed broccoli and carrots on the side and tipped the serving plate juice on for a sauce. That marinade seems simple but I was quite impressed with the results and you know it's good when the kids are dead quiet for the whole time they are eating.

  17. Started working on the backyard Luckily my yard is only small, because I have moved a sh*t load of crappy rock filled soil out and then brought 7 cubic meters of crushed rock in to try level it all out Plan is a couple small garden beds and fake turf the rest Got my rough layout, gonna brick the borders of the garden beds for a neat look, then I'll have to level and compact the crushed rock Gives me something to do when I have a free weekend Before shot - can't really see how much it actually slopes away from the house After pictures - showing all the crushed rock

  19. Die to the sale of my Clevo falling through, I have decided to shelve the new Barra engine, 4L80E and gtx55. Instead, I have just purchased a set or Higgins CHI heads. This will allow me to fit the ITB setup that I had originally planned to run. Fun times ahead..... A pics of the intake on it's original Glenn Seton V8SC engine.
