So got the new GoPro Hero 4 and wondering what suction mounts some of you have tried? Heard the GoPro name brand ones were not as good as some 3rd party ones but :idunno:

Thanks :beerchug:

Great timing. I just destroyed my Hero3+ last week because the suction mount failed. When I replace it I'll be using a tether. And yes, mine was the genuine 150mph rated one!

I have gen Gopro suction mount and never had an issue.

Ive used it on my car and in the surf life saving rowing boat.

All you need to do is make sure that you have cleaned the area well from all dirt and oil. I use an alcohol wipe then let it air dry on both surfaces

I've got a gopro hero 2. Used the suxtion mount at the drags, multiple recordings of roads, loaned it to mates to go snowboarding and surfing..

It's never let go once.

I have the go pro suction mount, never had any problems

Have also used stuck to the bottom of a fibreglass boat while fishing, at anchor obviously...

Thanks all - sounds like I might buy 2 of the GoPro brand suction mounts - 2nd one to tether with. For those of you who earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points - Qantas Rewards shop has the GoPro Hero 4 Silver on there now and there's a special on them I.e. need less points to get it.

Yeah Wilko mate - the touch screen one :spoton:

Planning on mounting it to my push bike helmet as well - farrk had so many near misses on the Yarra River bike path during peak hour :angry2:

I'm at a loss why it failed - both surfaces were clean and it was locked off correctly. Tape or another cap as tether is a good idea. I won't ever risk it again.

At Cruise For Charity I noticed heaps of people use tape over the mounts.

The blokes I know who use them.snowboarding use tethers.
